Memory Foam is Memory Foam, Right?

No way! Not all memory foams are equal. They differ a great deal in quality - density, hardness or softness, response to temperature, and also in their durability.

One of the most important "specs" you should look for when comparing memory foam mattresses is the density of the memory foam. Many of the cheaply-made memory foam mattresses use memory foam with a density of 3 or 4 pounds. This just doesn't cut it. It won't have the lush "memory" feel of a higher-density foam. We only use a very high-quality 5.0 pound density memory foam which is comparible to the memory foam used in Tempur-Pedic® mattresses. However, you won't pay nearly as much for our mattresses because we don't spend millions of dollars on national television and radio advertising. We focus all of our efforts on finding quality materials at a great price, then building you a perfect, dream mattress.

You should also consider how long a foam will last - its durability. This is very important, because some cheaply-made memory foams feel great at first, but break down rapidly over time. Because memory foam can have durability issues, you should probably stay away from memory foam formulations that are new and haven't been tested over time. The memory foam we include in our mattresses has been used for over 5 years, and it has held up quite nicely over time. There's nothing better than real world testing, and just because a memory foam tested well in "labratory durability tests" doesn't mean it will really work for you over the long haul. You'll avoid a lot of problems by sticking with a memory foam that has a proven history of "real world" durability, like the foam we use in all of our mattresses.

Under our memory foam, we use high quality HR foam, considered the "Cadillac" of cushioning. High density, high resilience (HR) foam provides a great combination of comfort, deep down support and durability. HR foam should probably be renamed "high support" foam, because that is how it really excels, providing support far beyond traditional foam products. HR foam is noted for luxurious surface comfort combined with deep down support.
